For those few people who haven’t heard yet, Melbourne rockers Kingswood have broken the internet today with an epic Triple J Like A Version cover of Destiny’s Child’s notorious R’n’B pop single, ‘Say My Name’. Packing out the studio with a band of friends, adding in horns and some sweet and soulful backup singers, the boys have reinvented the track in a way even Queen Bey would be proud of.
Kingswood added a live version of their original single ‘Golden’ to their Triple J performance, giving the track a fresh brassy kick.
Guitarist and songwriter Alex Laska has responded to the viral take off by saying, “We’re all so overwhelmed with the massive response to our cover. It’s really humbling to have such a positive reaction from everyone and the support has been incredible. We’re influenced by every genre of music, and we all love the song, it just seemed a perfect choice for our Like A Version.”
Rumor has it the cover will make it to their upcoming Splendour In The Grass performance in Byron Bay, and may make the cut for their national tour announced this week. Check out the Australian tour dates below if you want to catch this one on stage!
Joining the gents for all tour dates will be rambunctious rock ‘n’ rollers The Vanns, and Sydney’s rockers Dear Seattle will be along for all shows excepting north Queensland dates.
