Sydney post-rock legends sleepmakeswaves have had an absolutely MONSTER year so far. A highly successful album release that saw them raise over $45,000 in pre-orders to fund the record, a record that hit #15 on the ARIA chart (and a #1 position on the 100% Independent Chart) improving on both positions from it’s critically-acclaimed predecessor.

‘Tundra’ getting a full rotation addition to triple j‘s playlist and tonnes of spins on community and international radio, an AIR Award Nomination, not to mention all the touring: national headline tour dates that wowed huge audiences, national theatre tours with Underoath and Devin Townsend Project, a ten-date headline tour of China, and a massive European tour looming that includes ArcTanGent, VBergmal, Aloud, Euroblast, ProgPower and Vivid festivals (not Sydney!). Ladies and Gentleman, it’s only half-way through the year…

With more announcements to come, sleepmakeswaves isn’t a band who lets up. Not ones to forget the regional towns, the band have also just announced that they are heading to Port Macquarie on Sat July 1st to play a headline show at The Basement at Port Panthers.
Now, just ahead of aforementioned announcements, they are dropping in to the triple j office to visit Ben and Liam for triple j’s prestigious Like A Version. The band will play their hit single ‘Tundra’ and a mystery cover. How does a band without vocals do a truly great cover? Just you wait and see.

Post-rock trailblazers sleepmakeswaves‘ third album “Made of Breath only” is out now through Bird’s Robe Records.

Do your ears a favour and tune into Triple J to have a listen to these legends of Prog Rock.
